Dentures & Partials

What are Dentures & Partials?

Both dentures and partials are ideal for patients who want to replace missing teeth within their mouth. The denture itself can be removed and replaced as often as needed. Partials only replace a number of teeth, while a full denture replaces an entire arch of teeth that are missing. Your new denture can last for anywhere from five to seven years with proper care and storage.

Why are Dentures & Partials needed?

The reason you may need a denture or partial is because you’re missing many or all of your teeth. It’s not uncommon for patients who have severely advanced gum disease to benefit from having their remaining teeth removed and a denture placed. Dentures offer restorative and cosmetic benefits. You’ll find it easier to talk, eat and chew when you have a properly fitted denture to wear.

Who is a candidate for Dentures & Partials?

To determine if you’d benefit from a denture or partial, we can examine your teeth. Most patients who need a denture can easily benefit from having one made and placed. If you have an older denture appliance, we can replace it as needed so that your smile is restored. If extractions need to be done, this will be performed prior to having a denture made.

What happens during the procedure for Dentures & Partials?

The process will begin with detailed impressions that are used to make the appliance itself. We will ensure that the prosthetic looks natural and fits perfectly at your subsequent appointment. It’s common to need several minor adjustments before the denture fits just right. You can wear the denture all day and remove it nightly in order to clean it and store it away. There are many denture cleansing solutions available, and we can provide information on how to properly maintain your new appliance.
